Definition:

An ingredient used topically to treat acne breakouts. Resorcinol breaks down dead, scaly skin to help dissolve existing comedones and keep new ones from forming.

Resorcinol is rarely used alone. Most often it is used along with sulfur to treat acne. It is also used to treat eczema, psoriasis, corns, calluses and other skin conditions.

The most common side effects of resorcinol products are dryness, redness and irritation.
