Definition:

a broad term used to describe light treatment procedures. Phototherapy is used to treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, and other conditions.

During a phototherapy treatment, the affected areas of the skin are exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light or laser. A series of treatments is usually recommended. A photosensitizing agent may be used to enhance the effects of the light treatment.

Some sources cite phototherapy treatment as very helpful in the treatment of inflamed acne.
