Bye Bye Blemish for Acne Drying Lotion Guide Review:

I'm always buying and trying new spot treatments -- I think I'm kind of addicted to them. I know they can't clear up a case of acne, but I still think it's nice to have one in my acne treatment arsenal to help with a particularly massive zit.

Even though I wasn't really looking for another spot treatment product, this one called out to me from the shelf. I'm used to spot treatments coming in little tubes or lip-balm-like wands. Bye Bye Blemish Drying Lotion is different because it comes in a small glass jar.

The first thing that struck me about the product: pink, pink, pink. We're talking calamine lotion pink.

All over the box, and on the bottle itself, is the admonishment do not shake. Apparently, I had shaken it unknowingly. When I opened the box, the entire product was pink. Imagine my surprise when the next morning, after it had sat undisturbed for a day, all the pink had settled to the bottom, leaving the top of the solution crystal clear.

This separation is actually important. You take a cotton swab, dip it down into the pink sediment (for lack of a better word) and then apply it to each pimple. Make sure you use a new cotton swab each time you dip into the product, to keep it sanitary.

The spot treatment starts off pink and stays pink, even when it's dry, so you're limited to wearing it only at night. I found that when I woke up in the morning, though, the spot treatment had flaked off. That didn't seem to affect it much, because my pimples were much smaller than they were the day before.

Which brings me to the best aspect of this spot treatment -- it works. Granted, it didn't make any pimple "disappear overnight" as the packaging promised, but my zits were definitely smaller and less red. I attribute that to the high concentration of sulfur, plus the addition of salicylic acid. It even contains zinc oxide (the basic ingredient in baby's booty balm) which I think helps reduce the redness.

Bye Bye Blemish really dries out pustules. It's not effective on those big, deep, "cystic" type blemishes, though. It can also sting a little when it's applied, especially on those open blemishes, probably because of the alcohol.

You can also smell a bit of that alcohol when you apply the product, but it's not overwhelming. More so is the eucalyptus-y smell of camphor. If you don't care for the scent, the good news is it dissipates quickly as the product dries.

Honestly, I love this product. I like the way it works, I like the price. I even have my kids using it. It has become my go-to spot treatment and my all time favorite, both for its effectiveness and the bargain price.
