Definition:

A combination of benzoyl peroxide (5%) and erythromycin (3%) used topically to treat mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris.

Benzamycin works by killing the bacteria responsible for inflamed acne breakouts (Propionibacteria acnes). It is typically applied twice daily to clean, dry skin. Potential side effects include:

Benzamycin is available by prescription only. This medication must be stored in the refrigerator.
