People will post anything online. Even videos of themselves popping pimples. For other people to watch.
There is even a website dedicated just for this purpose. I ran across it today while searching for something completely unrelated. Of course, I had to check it out. With a name like PopThatZit.com, how could I stay away?
Oh. My. Goodness.
Now, let me say that I am not easily grossed out. Far from it. (I have kids. I have livestock. Both produce a prodigious amount of poop, among other yucky things.)
I'm not at all goosey about the human body. I squeeze blackheads for a living, and actually kind of enjoy it.
But ... yikes. I may have nightmares.
I'm not completely surprised, though, about the fascination. People seem to have a ingrained desire to pop pimples. (In fact, I spoke at length about this desire with a dermatologist/psychologist a while back. You can see the interview here if you're at all curious about what he had to say: Why We Pop Pimples.)
There is something disconcertingly satisfying about popping a pimple. It isn't good for your skin at all, because it can spread infection and cause a massive amount of damage. But it's something we're driven to do anyway. I totally get that.
But posting it online for all the world to see? I'd love to hear what you think of the subject. Take the poll and post your comments in the section below.
