I don't typically get many blackheads, at least not real big ones. No, I tend to get the red, inflamed breakouts. You know, the kind that are super obvious and hurt.

All inflamed breakouts get their start as a non-inflamed blemish (either a closed comedone or, yes, even a blackhead). Not all non-inflammatory blemishes become swollen and red, though. So what makes that inconspicuous little pore blockage suddenly become a big, red pimple?
