Why Isn't My Treatment Working?

The hardest thing about treating acne is... finding a treatment that actually works. I must have gone through half a dozen treatments before hitting on one that worked for me. But I'm not complaining because I'm sure many of you of gone through tons more.

It's so frustrating. Why isn't your treatment working?

Part of the reason why acne is so hard to treat is because there is no one sure-fire treatment that works for everyone. So there will be some trial-and-error in finding the right treatment.

If you're using an over-the-counter treatment, you might need to switch to a prescription medication. Or, you might just need to give your treatment some more time.

If you're really having a tough time with your acne, I can't tell you enough how helpful it is to have a physician's help. You've already been to a doctor and are still breaking out, you say? Don't give up on your dermatologist just yet. Let your doc know you're not seeing results and give treatment another try. Or switch doctors if you're not happy, but don't give up on treatment. Keep at it!
