Having acne at any age is tough, but I think it hits teens especially hard. At a time in your life when you're supposed to be having fun and discovering who you are, having acne can really affect your life.
Most teens get acne to some extent, so even if it feels like you're the only one, you're not. Even those with clear skin -- it may be clear because they're on treatment right now.
Here's a little bit of good news: acne can be treated and your skin can get better. There are treatments out there that do work! But, over-the-counter products (those acne products you buy at the store or online) aren't super effective except for mild breakouts. So, if you've been using them and not seeing any results, it's not your fault.
Prescription acne medications are much more effective (and can work faster too). Your pediatrician, family doctor, or dermatologist are all good people to ask about acne treatments.
No matter what treatment you're using, consistency is important. Don't skip days or treatments. This article gives you even more tips for treating teen acne.
