Benzoyl peroxide is one of my personal favorite acne treatments. Not everyone loves it as much as I do, though.

Sometimes the side effects of benzoyl peroxide turn people off from this treatment even before it has the chance to work. But with careful use, you can reduce benzoyl peroxide side effects like dryness and irritation.

If you're someone who just can't use benzoyl peroxide not matter how carefully you use it, there are other options available too. Salicylic acid and sulfur can be bought over the counter; prescription acne medications are available from your doctor if OTC products aren't working for you.
