AAD Launches New Site for Kids
The American Academy of Dermatology just launched a new website which aims to educate kids about their skin, hair and nails.
It's a cute, cartoon-y site with tons of information. Kids aged 7 to 12 will probably get a kick out of it. While it contains tons of great info, older kids and teens will probably find it too childish.
You're escorted around by Sammy Skin Cell (although I didn't realize ol' Sammy was a skin cell until he announced himself as one. He looks more like a funny-shaped kid.) Still, kids will think he's cute.
The site contains plenty of info about pimples, acne causes, and general hair and skin care, plus answers to questions kids are curious about: why do I have freckles? How do I get gum out of my hair?
There are also games to play, but my kids weren't too interested in them. I liked the family activity suggestions on the parent pages.
If you have kids, check out the site. It's never too early to learn about skin health.
