It's National Acne Awareness Month
The American Acne and Rosacea Society (AARS) has declared June 2009 National Acne Awareness Month. According to the AARS, over 17 million Americans suffer from acne. They're hoping to bring awareness to acne, and specifically teach healthcare providers more about this skin disorder, which means better treatment for you!
So, what can you do to celebrate National Acne Awareness Month? Here are a few ideas:
- Treat yourself to an acne facial at your local day spa. You'll get a deep-cleansing treatment that leaves your skin feeling great, plus enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the spa environment. Don't want to shell out big bucks for a spa visit? Create your own
handmade facial masks at home. - If it's your teen who's battling breakouts, take a few minutes check in with them. Even if they don't come right out and say it, acne can adversely affect their self-esteem. Knowing the facts about acne causes and treatments will help you help your teen.
- If you've been putting off making an appointment to see a dermatologist, now is time to make that call! You may be pleasantly surprised at the scope of acne treatment options available.

whether it is banned or not, benzoyl peroxide is still dangerous. research indicates that benzoyl peroxide has led to rapid development of carcinoma in mice. Also, the FDA has classified benzoyl peroxide with a safety warning as unknown. That’s scary… I would not want to take my chances with it.
CTRL uses salicylic acid not BP so it is much easier on your skin
BZ was banned in January 2009. Testing has shown it increases your risk of cancer. Why the FDA still permits its use is beyond me.
CTRL has all natural ingriedents
Is CTRL safer than Proactiv?
Yeah it uses salicylic acid instead of BP
