The National Rosacea Society has designated April as Rosacea Awareness Month. The society estimates over 14 million people are affected by rosacea.
Rosacea can be a sneaky skin disease, and many people may not even know that they have it. The symptoms, especially early on, tend to come and go. Rosacea can look like other conditions, too.
Many people think they have a case of adult acne, when in fact they have rosacea. Could you be one of them? Signs of rosacea include:
- flushing of the face, or redness that doesn't go away
- small bumps or pimples
- dry or rough looking skin
- dilated or visible capillaries
- burning or itching of the skin
