Bargain Benzoyl Peroxide Cleansers

Monday September 29, 2008

Are you looking for an acne treatment cleanser? Try one that contains benzoyl peroxide.

With regular use benzoyl peroxide cleansers can help reduce breakouts. Does your face feel like an oil slick? BP cleansers also take care of oily shine. You don't even have to spend a ton of money to get a good one. For less than $15, you can find a benzoyl peroxide cleanser that you'll love.

Benzoyl peroxide cleansers can leave you feeling dry, so you might want to apply a moisturizer after cleansing. And you won't want to use them too often, no more than three times a day. In fact, you should probably start off using just once per day and slowly work up to more often.

Don't forget, if you're using a prescription acne medication talk to your doctor before you rush out to buy a benzoyl peroxide cleanser. Using benzoyl peroxide with other acne medications can irritate your skin. Benzoyl peroxide can also make your Retin-A (tretinoin) treatments ineffective.

Although Benzoyl Peroxide is effective sometimes. It doesn’t treat the root of the problem, namely hormones. A truly effective treatment treats the acne at a deeper level and based on gender. This site, campusacnetruth.org has a lot of facts about the differences between male and female skin.

George, it’s true that Benzoyl peroxide doesn’t treat the gender-based causes of acne. In fact, Using Benzoyl Peroxide would be a mistake for other reasons. Benzoyl Peroxide has proven to be a more harsh option. It’s too irritating to be worth it. Why am I going to treat my acne to simply end up with another skin problem brought on by the treatment??

Treatments that use Benzoyl Peroxide have to end up using a 3 or 4 step system just to compensate for the side-effects. I don’t know how busy your day is, but if you’re anything like me, you don’t have enough time in the day to spend on 4 step treatments. I’d say you’re better of using salicylic acid.

I agree, I find BP super harsh and it has always given me a rash and or burning sensation.

I love my benzoyl peroxide facial wash! It keeps my face clear and very healthy.

I found that putting on a BP lotion was too harsh for my skin. I would get rashes and really dry skin. Now I use a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide facial wash once at night and follow it up with a nonpore-clogging moisturizer twice a day. My skin looks great and I don’t have to spend a lot of time on it.

It’s easy to just pick a treatment off the shelf that could likely use benzoyl peroxide, and sometimes it works. But the truth remains the same: benzoyl peroxide can have some nasty side-effects. It does for me. salicylic acid is a much safer and equally safe ingredient.

I just came across a new treatment called CTRL. It is the first gender-specific non prescription acne treatment…and it uses salicylic acid. It is important to address the gender factor of acne and this product does just that.
