Weird Acne Treatments

I'm not a skin care snob by any stretch of the imagination, but some treatments just too strange for me. Like the Geisha Facial that is offered at Shizuka New York Day Spa. The exfoliant in this distinctive facial treatment is nightingale droppings. Yes, you can pay good money to have an esthetician massage bird poop onto your face.

Which got me thinking about all those weird acne remedies: masks of raw egg yolk, toning with rubbing alcohol/vinegar/Windex, avoiding sex and, the ultimate unusual treatment, cleansing your face with urine. Yeah, I've actually tried some of these remedies; no, I'm not saying which. But the only thing that truly worked was proven acne medications, good daily skin care, and lots of patience.

Remember, there is no miracle acne cure out there (if there were, wouldn't everyone be using it?) See your dermatologist instead. And please, don't try those strange acne "treatments". If I save even one of you from putting pee on your face, I'll feel like I've done my job.
