Treating Breakouts with Salicylic Acid

Thursday October 11, 2007

Salicylic acid is found in many over-the-counter acne treatment products. A beta hydroxy acid, it is used as an exfoliant to help rid the skin of excess dead cells. Salicylic acid can penetrate the pore, keeping it clear of cellular debris and ultimately reducing the number of pore blockages and breakouts. A variety of acne cleansing washes, pads, lotions, and gels contain this effective acne-fighting ingredient.

Is salicylic acid the treatment for you? Learn more about salicylic acid, how it works, and its common usage.
