How Does a Pimple Develop?

Friday September 14, 2007

You wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and…surprise! A pimple (or a few) has suddenly popped up. While pimples may seem to develop overnight, acne development is actually an extended process that takes place where you can't see it - within your pores.

Pimples are created when dead cells become trapped inside the follicle. Add excess sebum, the skin's natural oil, and an abundance of acne-causing bacteria and you soon have a pimple. Learning how this process works will help you gain a greater understanding of your skin, as well as help you identify how various acne treatments work to clear the skin.
